Promoting Research

  • Providing Information on Funders
While the SVRI is not in a position to fund research at this time, we have provided links to potential funding sources in the links section of this Web site.
  • Helping to Link Researchers
Currently the SVRI helps to link researchers through our email discussions and online discussion forum.
  • Supporting Requests for Proposals
Periodically, the SVRI puts out calls for proposals on various sexual violence related research projects. These are done through a competitive process and are announced on this web site and through the SVRI e-mail discussion.

Capacity Building

SVRI periodically facilitates capacity building activities. SVRI members are given priority to attend courses and workshops of the SVRI.

  • 2008 Medico-Legal Convening in Response to Sexual Violence - Call for Expressions of Interest, The Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya, 2 – 5 June 2008
  • SVRI Workshop: Promoting and Strengthening Research Skills/Networks On Sexual Violence, New Delhi, India, 24-28 September 2007: the SVRI recently facilitated a very successful workshop in India. The workshop aim was to strengthen research capacity among SVRI members to develop evidence based, locally relevant research agendas in the area of sexual violence, and to promote research on sexual violence through the creation of regional research networks and research proposals. 19 participants from across the world came together to discuss and share their ideas and experiences regarding research on sexual violence.
