  • Rape victims who were drunk perceived as more responsible: study. Calgary Herald, 14 May 2008. From the frat house to the jury room, victims of date rape who voluntarily used drugs or alcohol prior to their assault are judged more harshly than those whose drinks were deliberately "spiked" by their attackers, says a University of Windsor researcher.
  • Eight boys arrested in alleged sexual assault of four girls. Globe and Mail, 05 October 2007. In a further shock to a Toronto school system still grappling with two homicides during the past five months, eight boys aged 12 and 13 face sexual assault charges after four girls told of being molested on the grounds of an Etobicoke middle school.
  • Soldier found guilty of sexual assault. Edmonton Journal, 16 August 2007. A soldier has been convicted of sexually assaulting a young female recruit during a party after basic training three years ago.
  • Gang-rape suspects may be part of prostitution ring. The Daily News, 19 July 2007. Three weeks into a cross-Canada manhunt for three Nova Scotia men wanted for a brutal gang sex assault, there are hints the men are involved in a prostitution ring forcing young women into the sex trade and moving them from Nova Scotia to Ontario.
  • Cultural 'honour' killing brought to Canada. The Vancouver Sun, 11 June 2007. A 14-year-old female rape victim is strangled to death in March 2004 by her father and brother because she has supposedly tarnished the family name.
