Women living with HIV face unique challenges and human rights violations related to their sexuality and reproduction within their families and communities, as well as from the health-care institutions where they seek care. In response to requests for guidance specific to the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women living with HIV, this guideline has been developed with meaningful community engagement, a broad consultative process and review of current evidence and existing guidelines. It also includes new recommendations and good practice statements placing particular emphasis on the creation of an enabling environment to support more effective health interventions and better health outcomes.
Following the global launch of the Guideline (Geneva, February 2017), WHO is undertaking several steps to disseminate the guideline – in particular with WHO Regional and Country Offices, Ministries of Health, programme managers, health care providers, professional associations, community of women living with HIV, and implementers.
· To provide an overview of the unique process of community engagement used in the development of this guideline
· To present the recommendations in the recently released WHO guideline, Consolidated guideline on sexual and reproductive health and rights of women living with HIV
· To gain insights from national and regional stakeholders regarding implementation of the guideline
