Terms and Conditions
By registering for and participating in the Sexual Violence Research Initiative Discussion Forum, you agree to these terms and conditions that apply to your use of the discussion forum. These terms and conditions of use apply to the "Sexual Violence Research Initiative Discussion Forum " on the Sexual Violence Research Initiative website, and to any similar features that may be implemented in this Web site from time to time, including (but not limited to) any bulletin boards or chat rooms. All of these features are comprised in the term "discussion forums" in these terms and conditions. These terms of use and the other notices on this site (e.g. Privacy Policy) may change from time to time. These changes are at the sole discretion of the Programme Officer of the Sexual Violence Research Initiative website. You should review all of these terms of use and other notices regularly in order to apprise yourself of any such changes.
1. Sexual Violence Research Initiative Online Discussion Forum
1.1 Sexual Violence Research Initiative offers the Forum at its discretion.
1.2 Sexual Violence Research Initiative may interrupt, remove or change the Forum, or stop your access to the Forum at any time at its discretion without notice to you.
1.3 Sexual Violence Research Initiative does not warrant or represent that the Forum will be free of errors or interruptions.
1.4 Without limiting 1.1 to 1.3 inclusive, Sexual Violence Research Initiative shall use its best endeavours to ensure that the Forum is available at all times.
2. Use of the Forum
2.1 You may only use the Forum if you are at least sixteen years old and you do not suffer from any mental impairment that may cause you to be potentially vulnerable to abuse by using the Forum.
2.2 You shall not use the Forum:
2.2.1 in a way that is harmful, obscene, defamatory, illegal, constitutes hate speech or incitement to violence, or constitutes an infringement of copyright or other intellectual property rights; or
2.2.2 for the purpose of advertising or marketing any business, product or service.
2.3 The Sexual Violence Research Initiative monitors contributions to the Forum, and moderates initial membership. Should the Sexual Violence Research Initiative moderator in its discretion be of the opinion that you are contravening the provisions of 2.2 or any of these terms and conditions, the Sexual Violence Research Initiative shall be entitled, without notice to you, to remove the offending content or stop your access to the Forum.
2.4 If you discover inappropriate postings, or if you become the subject of abusive postings from other Sexual Violence Research Initiative Discussion Forum users, email the us at svri@mrc.ac.za.
2.5 You hereby indemnify Sexual Violence Research Initiative against any loss or damage, howsoever arising, that you or any third party may suffer as a result of your use of the Forum or your provision of content to the Forum.
3. Copyright.
You may freely:
* copy, distribute and display any content on the Forum;
* make derivatives of such content;
* make commercial use of such content,
provided that you clearly credit the original author of the content and quote the Forum as the source of the content.
4. Limitation of liability.
4.1 You use the Forum at your own risk.
4.2 The Sexual Violence Research Initiative will not be liable to you or any third party for any loss or damage, howsoever arising, from your use of the Forum.
5. Change of terms and conditions
5.1 The Sexual Violence Research Initiative may change these terms and conditions at any time without notice to you.
5.2 By using the Forum, you will become bound to the then current version of these terms and conditions ("current version") and, unless stated otherwise in the current version, all previous versions will be superseded by the current version.
5.3 You will be responsible for reviewing the then current version each time you use the Forum.
5.4 Without derogating from the aforegoing, and without imposing any obligation on Sexual Violence Research Initiative whatsoever, Sexual Violence Research Initiative reserves the right to give you notification of changes to the relevant terms and conditions either by posting a notice on the Forum. On notification of the existence of the changed terms and conditions, you will be obliged to visit the legal section of the Forum and view the current version.
5.5 A certificate signed by Sexual Violence Research Initiative (or by one of Sexual Violence Research Initiative’s Coordinating Group members, whose appointment, qualification and authority need not be proved) will be prima facie proof of the date of publication and content of the current version and all previous versions of the terms and conditions.
5.6 In these terms and conditions:
5.6.1 “Sexual Violence Research Initiative” refers to the Sexual Violence Research Initiative, an Initiative of the Global Forum for Health Research, hosted by the Medical Research Council, South Africa; and
5.6.2 “use” includes (without limitation) providing content to the Forum.
5.7 These terms and conditions will be interpreted, and any matter arising from your use of the Service will be adjudicated in terms of the laws of the Republic of South Africa. |
