Scholarships and Bursaries

A number of bursaries options are available for SVRI Forum 2017.  To be eligible for most options on offer you must have submitted an abstract and had it accepted for presentation at the Forum.

The SVRI Forum 2017 bursaries on offer include:

  1. Bursaries for researchers doing participatory research with young people on sexual and intimate partner violence and / or violence in childhood: A small number of bursaries for people presenting on this topic are also available. Again, to be eligible you must have submitted an abstract.
  2. Bursary support for registration only: Again, to be eligible for registration support you must have submitted an abstract for presentation at the SVRI Forum;
  3. Bursaries for young researchers and NGO counterparts: The Oak Foundation have provided funding to support young researchers aged 18-24 years and NGO facilitators from low and middle income countries, to attend SVRI Forum 2017. See RFA. Applications close 13 March 2017.
  4. Mentoring programme: SVRI builds capacity of young and emerging researchers to undertake quality research on sexual and intimate partner violence through the mentoring programme.

Bursaries will cover either one or all of the following:

  • Conference registration fees
  • Economy class return flight ticket from your country
  • Visa fees (receipts would need to be submitted on arrival for reimbursement)*
  • Hotel accommodation
  • Ground transport

Even though every attempt will be made to assist as many applicants as possible, we regret that there will only be a limited quantity of bursaries available. Applicants are therefore strongly encouraged to seek other funding as well.
