  • Villages renounce female circumcision. Independent Online, 28 May 2007. Diamakouta - Two hundred and twelve villages in Senegal and Gambia agreed on Sunday to renounce female circumcision and weddings featuring child brides.
  • Gamcotrap Honours Ex-circumcisers. The Point Newspaper, 16 May, 2007. The Gambia Committee on Traditional Practices (GAMCOTRAP) recently organised a big celebration to honour certain circumcisers and their communities following their public declaration to stop the practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
  • 18 Female Genital Mutilators Drop Knives. The Point Newspaper, Wednesday 9th May 2007. Several female circumcisers representing cluster villages in The Gambia recently took solemn oath denouncing female circumcision at a well attended ceremony organised by GAMCOTRAP at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
