A dark pool of dried blood and a fallen red scarf mark the place where Ronak, who had fled to a woman's shelter in the Kurdish city of Sulaymaniyah when she was accused of adultery by her husband, was shot three times by a man hiding on the roof of a nearby building.
  • Rape scandal hits foreign contractors in Iraq. Sydney Morning Herald, 10 April 2008. A woman who says she was raped while working for a foreign contractor in Iraq detailed the experience in a congressional hearing as another woman who made similar allegations before Congress last year listened and fought back tears.

A federal judge requested one week to issue a ruling on a trial date for a former soldier accused of raping a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and killing her and her family.
