The Court of Appeal has reiterated the importance of properly conducted identification parades in criminal cases. In a case in which a woman had been gang-raped and subjected to other forms of degrading sexual violence, the court could not hide its dilemma in having to reverse the conviction of one of the appellants because police and the prosecution had failed to adduce sufficient evidence to support the testimony of the victim. A US risk mitigation group said Monday it will help Kenya to crack down on sexual offenders during recent violence and reduce violence against women in the east African nation.

Underage girls are being trafficked in Malindi for sex, a seminar heard Sunday. Most of the girls are from upcountry villages in Kenya. Somali women and girls are also targeted.(Free registration)
