  • Mexican senators propose raising minimum marriage age to prevent child abuse. International Herald Tribune, 28 March 2008. Nearly 400,000 Mexican children between 12 and 17 are married or living with romantic partners, said Sen. Guillermo Tamborrel, a member of the ruling National Action Party who wrote the bill.
  • Mexico City starts grope-free buses for women. The Mail and Guardian, 23 January 2008. Mexico City has started a women-only bus service to protect female passengers from groping and verbal abuse common on the city's packed public-transportation system.
  • Key Video Evidence Blocked in Child Sex Ring Trial. InterPress Service News Agency, 05 September 2007. Prosecutors in a case involving the sexual abuse of children in Mexico have failed to hand over to the courts 10 video recordings and 70 photos that show the accused, who claims to have friends in high places, in compromising circumstances with minors.
  • 16,000 Victims of Child Sexual Exploitation. Inter Press Service News Agency, 13 August 2007. The child pornography and commercial sexual exploitation industry enjoys total impunity in the Mexican capital, according to a report by the Mexico City Human Rights Commission.
