Karachi: Over 4,000 cases of crimes against women were reported in Pakistan last year - more than double the figure in 2006. But rights organisations say this is just the tip of the iceberg and many more violations go unreported or are hushed up.

KARACHI: The alleged gang rape case of a newly married woman, who was visiting Quaid-e-Azam’s mazaar from the Punjab on March 16, has developed into a war of words between the police, NGO War Against Rape, the Pakistan People’s Party and her family, with each issuing separate statements and stories.

LAHORE: Doctors at Mayo Hospital have said that the six-year-old girl, who was raped by four men on Tuesday, was in critical condition.
