  • House bill seeks raising statutory age of rape to 16. ABS-CBN Interactive Philippines, 12 March 2008. People are shocked when they find out that at the age of 12 years old, a child can consent to sex.
  • Hunt on for taxi driver in rape try. Inquirer.net, 25 February 2008. The police are looking for a driver who allegedly tried to rape a 27-year-old woman inside his taxi on Saturday night.
  • Court finds baker guilty of rape. Inquirer.net, Philippines, 3 February 2008. A baker was convicted and sentenced to 20 to 40 years in jail for sexually molesting a house helper in 2003 inside a motel in Cebu City.
  • Human trafficking cases in E. Visayas 'alarming'. Inquirer.net, 06 December 2007. TACLOBAN CITY-Eastern Visayas continues to be a source of women and children being sent to Metro Manila brothels and sweatshops, and the number of trafficking cases is alarming, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the region.
  • 'I am fighting for you'. Inquirer.net, Philippines, 04 December 2007. By this time, the CEDAW committee in New York would have received a petition filed by Karen Vertido and her counsel, lawyer Evalyn Ursua, with assistance from the Women's Legal Bureau, regarding the case of rape she filed in 1996.
