SUMMARY:Interventions that Prevent or Respond to Intimate Partner Violence Against Women and Violence Against Children
DESCRIPTION:Join UNICEF\, LSHTM\, and SVRI\, to learn more about the implications of the recent publication ‘Interventions that prevent or respond to intimate partner violence against women and violence against children: a systematic review’. Globally\, efforts seeking to prevent or respond to intimate partner violence (IPV) and violence against children (VAC) are still frequently separate\, even despite growing evidence of intersections across these forms of violence. Authors conducted a systematic review to explore interventions that simultaneously prevented or responded to IPV and VAC by parents or caregivers\, aiming to identify common intervention components and mechanisms that lead to a reduction in IPV and VAC. The webinar will feature the findings from this systematic review\, discuss the implications of these results\, and examine how\, together\, these insights can help move the field forward and lead to better outcomes for both children and women. The webinar will also explore how colleagues are using the findings from the review to guide their own work in different parts of the world. To join the webinar\, register here.

SUMMARY:Researching Sensitive Topics Involving Children – Managing Risk\, Distress and Trauma in Research Design and Data Collection
DESCRIPTION:Research on sensitive topics is essential if we are to have high-quality evidence to understand the critical issues affecting children\, and to shape and improve programs and policies for impact. However\, when this involves interviewing children and adolescents\, it raises ethical concerns regarding the potential for re-traumatization and distress it may cause – particularly if we are asking about experiences of violence\, trauma or abuse. This may be further complicated when we consider the complex and fragile settings in which we often work. Balancing potential risk vs benefit ethically is an ongoing challenge for researchers and organisations working in this space. \nThis webinar will critically explore the risks associated with interviewing children on sensitive or difficult topics and their implications for planning and designing research projects through presentation\, discussion\, and an opportunity for audience questions. \nRegister here.
