Visas and passports (Visa letter)
Partners, researchers and colleagues traveling to Brazil for the SVRI Forum 2017 must present an approved travel document (passport or identity card). Visas to enter into Brazil are a requirement for a number of countries. It is the responsibility of each delegate to ensure that they have the correct documentations before travelling to Brazil.
According to the Brazilian immigration services website, People from the European and South American countries need not to apply for a visa for a tourist stay of 90 days. 4-hour Tijuca Forest tour: The open-air jeeps provide a unique opportunity to enjoy Rio in the fresh air. After pick-up at hotel, tour starts riding on a lesser known road that begins behind the Botanical Gardens. First stop will be at the Monkeys' Waterfall with a natural pool for a chilling dive. Fantastic setting and during summer, some macumba leftovers. Returning to the jeep, a second stop now at Vista Chinesa - "Chinese Belvedere" a lookout that has a pagoda-like gazebo. Further up and already entering the Tijuca Forest National Park, passing by the Açude da Solidão which is a secondary entrance to the forest. After going into the forest a bit, jeep stops at the entrance of Toca da Onça trail. On foot, descending for some 30 minutes, this trail is level, without obstacles and fantastic. Participants cannot believe that one is in the middle of a "jungle" in Rio de Janeiro! Return to the hotel will be by the Canoas Road passing by São Conrado district. It is recommended to wear tennis or comfortable walking shoes, light clothing, a hat, sunscreen lotion.

3-hour Favela tour: Rio’s favelas (shanty towns) are worldwide known for their diversity of colours, creeds, styles and people. A truly anthropological lesson throughout the paths and smiles of typical Cariocas, experiencing a bit of their daily routine in their search for survival. In this tour we visit the shanty-town, where we can watch the routine of this community. We walk through the small streets, watch the local commerce. There is also a free market with food and hand-made goods.

5-hour Corcovado & Santa Teresa tour: A tour by the world’s most famous landmark, the statue of Christ, the Redeemer atop Corcovado Mountain, followed by the most stunning landscapes created by Nature and the wonders of the bohemian life in one of the oldest neighbourhoods of Rio, Santa Teresa: a tour marked by the diversity that characterizes the best of the Marvellous City.

5-hour Corcovado & Sugar Loaf tour: After pick-up, tour will take the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon will reach the Rebouças tunnel, a 2.6 km long complex that links the southern and northern parts of the city cut in half by the Tijuca ridge that makes Rio the only city in the world to have a National Park 5 minutes from downtown. Reaching the Cosme Velho district, tour members will take a cogwheel train that climbs the mountain from its base at 15 metres to almost its summit at 670 metres. The very top is reached by taking escalators to reach the base of Christ the Redeemer statue. This statue covered with a mosaic of soapstone is one of Rio's finest Art Nouveau monuments. The view, from this vantage point, with the surrounding Tijuca National Forest spreading below and a circle of mountains closing the horizon at the very back of the Guanabara bay. Later on, you will be taken to the neighbourhood of Urca where one of the largest symbols of the city is located: the Sugar Loaf. This visit is made in two steps by cable car. The first cable car takes passengers to Urca Hill and from where one can have a beautiful view from the Guanabara Bay and its islands, the Rio-Niteró Bridge and Corcovado Hill.

Foz do Iguaçu is the Brazilian city on the border of Iguaçu Falls, located on the border of Argentina and Brazil. The falls consist of approximately 257 individual falls over 2.7 km were chosen as one of the "New Natural Seven Wonders of the World."

Salvador, also known as Salvador da Bahia is the capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia. With 3 million people, it is the largest city proper in the Northeast Region and the 3rd-largest city proper in the country, after São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Founded by the Portuguese in 1549 as the first capital of Brazil, Salvador is one of the oldest colonial cities in the Americas. A sharp escarpment divides its Lower Town (Cidade Baixa) from its Upper Town (Cidade Alta) by some 85 meters. The Elevador Lacerda, Brazil's first elevator, has connected the two since 1873. The Pelourinho district of the upper town, still home to many examples of Portuguese colonial architecture and historical monuments, was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. The city's cathedral is the see of the primate of Brazil and its Carnival celebration has been reckoned as the largest party in the world. Salvador was the first slave port in the Americas and the African influence of the slaves' descendants makes it a centre of African-Brazilian culture. The city is noted for its cuisine, music, and architecture. Porto da Barra Beach in Barra has been named one of the best beaches in the world.

After time for photos, tour will pass by Santa Maria Fortress, Porto da Barra where Tomé de Souza docked in the 16th Century; Ladeira da Barra, Vitória and its 19th Century mansions; Campo Grande and the monument of the Liberation of Bahia; Castro Alves Theatre, Sete de Setembro Avenue and its throbbing commercial life; São Bento Monastery and last but not least - the main stage of Bahian Carnival - Castro Alves Square.
