09:00 – 11:00: The time is now: uniting activism and research
The Sexual Violence Research Violence Initiative (SVRI)Forum, whose theme this year is “Time is Now”, will look at the impact of global movements like #MeToo, #IAmNotNext and TIME’S UP. The Forum opens tomorrow, Tues 22nd Oct., with a panel exploring the new forms of feminist activism and theory emerging. Panellists include; and Glenda Gray, President & CEO of the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), Gro Harlem Brundtland, member of The Elders, and Norway’s first woman Prime Minister, Josina Machel, Mozambican gender equality activist, Malebogo Molefhe, disability justice activist and former Botswanan National basketball player, many of whom will be sharing their own experience as violence survivors.

19:30 – 20:30: Measuring Progress, Driving Solutions
Join Together for Girls, The Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children, the SVRI and the Economist Intelligence Unit at SVRI Forum for discussion about the latest resources measuring progress and driving solutions to prevent sexual violence against children around the world.

19:00 – 21:00: Spotlight Initiative: What does the world’s largest targeted investment to EVAWG look like?
Erin Kenny, Head of the Technical Unit of the Spotlight Initiative, will discuss the Spotlight Initiative, the world’s largest targeted investment in EVAWG globally by the EU and UN. Participants will engage in cross-country exchange, hear early programme results, learn about civil society engagement and network with leading experts in EVAWG programming, policy and research.

THURSDAY 24 OCTOBER 2019
16:00 – 17:00: The SVRI Forum Closing Ceremony
The SVRI Forum Chair, Dr Claudia Garcia-Moreno will formally close the Forum. This session will include a highlights video of the Forum and Professor Rachel Jewkes, from the SVRI Leadership Council, will announcing the prize-winners. Reflections and future dirextions will be given by friends of SVRI, including; Emily Esplen, DFID, Tesmerelna Atsbeha, Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, and Tvisha Nevatia, Innovations for Poverty Action.
