Systematic and conflict-related sexual violence has been identified as a significant push factor driving migration through Latin America. Furthermore, individuals leaving their home countries face increased risks of systematic sexual violence throughout the migratory journey. This roundtable discussion brings together experts from countries of origin, transit, destination, and return to explore how key actors in the region are addressing these issues. Discussions will cover the documentation, investigation, truth-telling, and prosecution of sexual violence in the context of mixed migration. The session aims to enhance understanding of the general principles that all stakeholders—whether focused on humanitarian efforts, justice, or accountability—should uphold in their work.
