Abdulkarim, H.R. (2026). Faith as Resource: Engaging Muslim leaders in addressing GBV at community level. Sexual Violence Research Initiative.

Abstract

The first brief of the Faith & GBV PbK Practice Lab reflects on the learnings of implementing a practice-based knowledge (PbK) process by the Africa Muslim Women Action Network (AMWAN) in Kenya. This Muslim women-led organisation leads several projects in Kenya’s coastal region, focused on advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), preventing and responding to GBV, and supporting access to justice. Through the PbK harvesting process, Practice Lab members reflected on the lessons emerging from their organisation’s work, exchanged experiences, and worked together to transform these insights into practical knowledge, with key learnings recommendations included in this report.
