Lazarus, R., & Freeman, M. (2009). Primary-level mental health care for common mental disorder in resource-poor settings: Models and practice. A literature review. Pretoria: SVRI & SAMRC.
Abstract
This report summarises the literature (both published and grey) on mental health care for common mental disorder (mental health and emotional problems) at primary and community level (and where indicated, secondary level) in resource poor settings. Examples of good practice or in some cases emerging or promising practice are described. The report covers good practice in mental health care for primary health care patients and uses the example of mental health for People Living with HIV/AIDS as an example of a group at high risk for common mental disorder.
