The Centro de Defesa dos Direitos Humanos de Crianças e Adolescentes- Glória de Ivone (CEDECA) was selected to participate in the 5th World Conference of the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) to be held on 18- 21 September 2017 at the Sheraton Grand Rio Hotel & Resort, Rio, Brazil. This Forum is considered the largest worldwide event dedicated to the research, prevention and response to sexual violence and intimate partner violence.
In the Forum, CEDECA will have the opportunity to acquire and share knowledge about new research on sexual violence and other forms of violence against women and children. The aim is to propose means to eliminate all forms of violence against these people.
For the psychologist, Mariana Miranda, one of the chosen ones to represent CEDECA in the Forum, this is an opportunity to share with other nations the achievements and works developed by CEDECA. In addition, it will be a new field of learning.
“This event recognizes CEDECA as an organization that is concerned with producing knowledge on behalf of children and adolescents on the American and African continents, as the selection was announced in Latin America and Africa. In addition, it is an opportunity to share our experience and learn new methodologies in order to strengthen investment in the visibility of the voices of children and adolescents, “he said.
For participation in the Forum it is encouraged that abstracts cover the following subjects: Sexual violence, intimate partner violence, child abuse and neglect, HIV and sexual and gender violence; Feminist work with men and boys; Feminicide; Commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents; Prevention and response to violence against children and adolescents; Sex trafficking; Sexual abuse and violence in institutional contexts; Marginalized populations, including women with disabilities, LGBTI issues, sex workers, migrants and refugees; New forms of gender-based violence, including cyber bullying, cybercrime and secondary victimization; Impacts on the mental health of violence against women and children;
