This brochure offers an overview of the SVRI Forum 2026 (5–9 October, Bangkok), what it is, and why it matters now more than ever. It also describes how over the years the SVRI Forum has become the world's largest abstract-driven conference dedicated to ending violence against women, violence against children, and other forms of gender-based violence, with 1,502 delegates attending in 2024.
This report summarises the main takeaways of the Child Sexual Violence (CSV) Partners' Meeting held in Nairobi from 25–26 February 2026, convened by SVRI. The meeting reviewed the current state of CSV research in LMICs, identified critical gaps in evidence and measurement, explored ethical and methodological challenges, and began mapping a collective vision for the field.
This study explores how a comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) programme in rural Madagascar influences school climate, safety, and experiences of violence, drawing on perspectives from students, teachers, and CSE educators. It examines the broader educational and social impacts of delivering CSE in low-resource settings where evidence has been limited.
This study explores community perceptions in Botswana of the role of children and motherhood in women’s decisions to remain in or leave abusive intimate relationships. It examines the social norms and contextual factors shaping these choices to better inform GBV prevention and support efforts.
This study – conducted by researchers at the South African Medical Research Council and the University of Exeter with funding from GIZ – investigates how and why male students in South African higher education spaces perpetrate TFGBV against women peers, focusing on the social and digital dynamics that shape these behaviours. Using interviews with male students, it explores emerging forms of online harm within higher education settings.
This study – conducted by researchers at the University of Cape Town – examines the risk and protective factors shaping intimate partner violence (IPV) among adolescent and young mothers who face overlapping vulnerabilities such as early pregnancy, HIV risk, and social disadvantage. It aims to deepen understanding of the complex drivers of IPV in this group to better inform prevention, policy, and support pathways.
This study – conducted by a research team at the Human Science Research Council with funding from GIZ – explores a community-led Walking School Bus model designed to make the journey to school safer for students in high-risk areas of rural KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It studies what factors supported or constrained the sustainability of the programme, and how caregivers, volunteers, and children perceived the programme’s value in everyday life.
Violence is preventable and solvable. The evidence is clear. It needs to be resourced, built, and used at the scale the problem demands. Our 2025 Annual Report is an account of what SVRI did to meet this need: the funding we generated and the research we supported, the knowledge we built with partners and shared, the communities we convened, and the advocacy we led on why this work matters.
This Dialogue Brief, the second in a series co-produced by SVRI's Working Group on Faith & Violence against Children, explores how faith can be a positive resource to foster non-violent parenting, drawing on practice-based insights from participants in the Working Group's 12-week educational course.
