Selina is an independent researcher, technical consultant and educator specialising in participatory feminist approaches to the relationships between religious and cultural frameworks and marginalised populations. She has expertise in the prevention of violence against children and women as well as the impact of other intersecting factors such as disabilities or minority sexual and gender identities. She has led a number of multi-faith research studies on these topics, some of which can be accessed here. She holds an MA in Human Rights (University of Essex), an MTh in Systematic Theology (Stellenbosch University) and a PhD in Theology and Development (University of Kwa-Zulu Natal). She has more over 20 years of professional experience supporting and leading projects, research, evaluations and capacity building initiatives across the world, with a particular focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. She is also a faith leader in her local church, with a focus on children and youth. From 2024, Selina is chairing the Faith and Violence against Children Working Group for SVRI’s Faith and Gender Community of Practice. Selina lives in Cape Town, South Africa with her family and loves doing Afro-Latin dancing.
